The third and fourth graders had a thrilling time zooming through their learning these past two weeks. The students learned the science of roller coasters, completed a research project, built their own coasters, played at the carnival, and much much more!! All week we got to ride exciting and terrifying roller coasters. The first big drop always makes us scream. Also, we researched and learned about 8 roller coasters. We built a google tour with google maps to show where the coasters were located. In math class we did math problems to earn tickets to spend at the carnival at the end of the week. The carnival was so much fun. We played games like bean bag toss, punch out, duck pond, and ring toss. We even got to eat delicious cotton candy and pop corn. Another exciting activity was building our own roller coasters using marbles. We learned about energy and how coasters worked. For example, the first hill gives the coaster stored energy and has to be the tallest. We had to be thoughtful and work step by step. The coasters we built had inversions, hills, and cool obstacles. One other thing we don't want to leave out is the feats of strength. All of us tried our hardest to test our skills and earn strong man awards. We competed in arm wrestling, thumb war, wall sits, push ups, tree pose, and sit ups. All the students had a blast learning, building, and playing games!!
