On Wednesday we took a field trip to the Flathead Indian reservation. First, we explored the museum at the Peoples Center. We saw many artifacts including a stuffed grizzly bear. Next, we went outside and played traditional native american games. We played Hoop and Dart and Yell and Run. Then, we went and created beautiful bead work. Every one was very creative. Lastly, we walked around Flathead lake and learned the importance to the Salish and Kootnei. We learned about an old camp that had been buried by water over the years. Also the class is in a huge debate about the existence of the lake monster!! In conclusion, everyone had a thrilling experience!!
The Third and Fourth Graders boarded Hook Scallywag's ship yesterday and completed 6 challenges to become a pirate and earn their pirate names!! We had a blast building paper pirate hats, extending spyglasses, air cannons, treasure maps, a ship flag that could be hoisted, and pirate ships that could float!! To complete these difficult challenges we had to work as a team to become a true pirate.mWe had a HOOK of a time on pirate day!! The third and fourth graders had a blast building 3-D place value chart today. We got to build the ones place all the way to the Millions!! We learned that each place is ten times bigger. ONES, TENS, HUNDREDS, THOUSANDS, TEN THOUSANDS, HUNDRED THOUSANDS, MILLIONS!!!!
